The best local attraction is the house itself, with its lovely garden and beautiful peaceful setting.
An easy stroll takes you to the
RSPB Arne Nature Reserve, where you can enjoy easy walks, observe the bird and wildlife from the bird hides,
and look over Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour from Shipstal Point. If you want a restful holiday you need go nowhere else.
But if you do want to see some wonderful sights and scenery, there is a huge range available locally.
The best local beach is Studland, a long sweep of golden sand, with good facilites
provided by the National Trust. For more information about the reserve, see the
National Trust Studland site.
From Studland there is an easy walk to Old Harry Rocks, or you can get the ferry to Sandbanks and go to Poole.
There are many wonderful walks along the Dorset Coast, and around the quaint towns and villages.
Corfe Castle, another National Trust site,
is an imposing and atmospheric ruin, set high on a hill overlooking the
surrounding plains. The castle, and the village of Corfe itself, make a great day out.
Another recommended adventure is the steam train that runs between Swanage and Corfe, and for steam enthusiasts
there is an annual Dorset Steam Fair.
In the area there are many more tourist attractions and things-to-do, appealing to all ages and interests.
